We are all artists.
We are all creators.
Our biggest masterpiece is our life, and we get to create it from moment to moment, every day by the choices we make.
As exciting and freeing as this can be, it’s also terrifying.
It’s like a having a magic genie sitting next to you constantly asking “What do you want now? What do you want now?”
Most of the time our human mind can’t fathom the vast range of possibilities we have at our fingertips at any given moment. So to help us navigate through life it’s come up with a variety of coping strategies and mechanisms.
The greatest one being creating Labels - descriptive words we assign to things, people, experiences, and worst of all, to ourselves.
Try to notice this and you'll see that almost every sentence we think or say out loud is laced with some kind of label.
The moment we put a label on any one thing, person or experience we cut ourselves off from the potential to learn and grow through our interaction with it.
When we do this to ourselves we cut ourselves off from the experience of learning who we are and from the ability to create who we want to be.
We’ve been assigned labels from our parents, mentors, teachers and from society at large ever since we were born.

Mine ranged anywhere from silly, sweet, and one-of-a-kind to lazy, slow and entitled.
What are some of yours?
Most of these labels were given to us in childhood anywhere from age 2—12 when we had no idea or concept of who we were.
At that age we don't care about what others think of us, because we're deeply immersed in living life to the fullest, and being our authentic selves.
Here you are, skipping joyfully through life, not a worry in the world.
As far as you see the world seems like a fun place where you get to do cool stuff, and all of a sudden someone shows up and says “You’re so rude/careless/stupid/clumsy”…and these are all at the mild end of the spectrum.
Now many years later, you're walking around with all these labels still stuck on you through time, carrying them as your own description of who you are.
The worst part is that like an actor you adopt these labels as your role and start playing the part in real life.
Even if you're not aware of some of labels you've picked up along the way, chances are they are still stored, and very much present in your subconscious.
Maybe someone told you you were not talented so you never tried to pursue your passion for arts.
Maybe you were scolded for being lazy and you never dared truly devote yourself to a career because deep down you believe you’re incapable of being successful.
Maybe someone made you believe you’re not deserving of their love and you made that mean that YOU are not deserving of your OWN.
Today I invite you to scan back through time. What are some labels you adopted that you’re still acting from?
Also check in what are some labels you’re placing on yourself today.
Remember,, no label can truly capture your limitless potential to create the life you want,
So when you find yourself putting a label on yourself try this instead:
“I am loved, lovable, unlimited in my curiosity and potential to grow and change, and I'm beautiful with everything I bring on with me, whether others like it or not.”
Let me know if you find this helpful - love to hear your thoughts!
